About Tom
Tom Chen is a recognized entertainment communications strategist and member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Television Academy, with more than two decades of experience shaping how movies, series, brands, and media companies are positioned, launched, elevated, and championed. His expertise spans brand strategy, title publicity, media relations, awards campaigns, festival launches, corporate communications, and executive positioning across film, television, streaming, home entertainment, and digital platforms.
Most recently, Chen served as Senior Vice President of Publicity at Shout! Studios and, following its merger with FilmRise, Radial Entertainment. After joining Shout! in 2007, he built the company's publicity operation from the ground up and played a key role in elevating its corporate profile, content brands, and high priority releases across business, trades, consumer, and awards media. His campaign highlights include Shekhar Kapur's "What's Love Got to Do With It?," Potsy Ponciroli's "Old Henry," Viggo Mortensen's "The Dead Don't Hurt," Christoph Gans' "La Belle et la Bete," and restored Hong Kong cinema classics including John Woo's "The Killer," "Hard Boiled," and "A Better Tomorrow."
Earlier in his career, Chen led publicity and awards campaigns across film, television, and home entertainment for clients including AMC, Discovery Channel, Starz, HBO, IFC, and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. His credits include the landmark series "Planet Earth" and "Discovery Atlas," Rachid Boucharedb's "Days of Glory," Universal's home entertainment releases of "8 Mile," "King Kong," "The Constant Gardener," and "Brokeback Mountain," as well as numerous acclaimed documentary features for HBO.
